As a guest of the Speaker of the House, see Parliament in action and get a better understanding of the political process. A rare opportunity to get behind the scenes at Parliament House.

What your course will cover

This course provides an insight into the workings of the Tasmanian Parliament. The structure varies a bit each time but usually comprises the following:

  • The Speaker will take the group on a brief tour of rooms of special interest within Parliament House and discuss some history of the building and some of the politicians who have served there over the years.
  • The group will sit in on question time in the House of Assembly (if Parliament is sitting).
  • The group will have morning tea with the Speaker during which she will discuss points of interest from question time, share stories and answer your questions.

Please note that children must not attend this class unless it is a specified parent/child activity.
