Course description

Students who enrol in this course must be able to speak in basic Spanish at an acceptable level. The aim of the course is to improve conversation skills, extend your vocabulary and revise grammar points when necessary. It is recommended that students do some weekly homework. The class will be conducted in Spanish in a relaxed manner so students feel at ease at all times. The course will continue in the following term if there are sufficient enrolments.

What your course will cover

The tutor will prepare the lessons for the course and is always happy for students to suggest topics they wish to do in class. These can be to revise specific grammar points, revise verbs and any topic related to language or culture. This course does not use a textbook.

The course will include:

  • Practicing basic language in everyday situations with dialogues and role plays
  • Reading and/or listening to texts and talking about them in class
  • Questions and answers, to practice with a partner or in a group
  • Occasional use of audio-visual resources
  • Students who are interested in writing may also be able to do so as part of their homework and present their work in class if they wish
  • Activities that help students to increase their confidence in talking in Spanish, like debates or general conversation
  • Learning of new vocabulary
  • Reading books, occasionally

Prerequisites

  • For those who have completed at least 3 years (180hrs) of Adult Education Spanish or its equivalent.
  • Students who have lived or worked in a Spanish-speaking country may find this course useful to keep up with the language.
  • It is important to be aware that not all students enrolled in the course may have the same level of knowledge or abilities regarding the language. It is expected therefore, that students be aware of this and have a positive attitude in class.

What to bring

  • Pen and note book for work done in class.
  • A folder for your many handouts – an expandable A4 folder with plastic sleeves is recommended.

Important information
