Italian Consolidation 3

Course description

For those who have completed at least 3 years (180hrs) of adult education Italian or its equivalent. The aim of the course is to consolidate the grammar learned to date and gain greater oral skills. Students joining this continuation class should be familiar with most verb tenses.

What your course will cover

  • Students are encouraged to speak Italian in class in a non-threatening and friendly environment.
  • Regular revision exercises.
  • Revision of verb tenses studied to date.
  • Revision of pronouns.
  • An opportunity to write a short passage in Italian.
  • Reading from selected texts and audio visual material will be studied in oder to enhance comprehension, vocabulary, idiomatic expressions and cultural awareness.
  • Development of oral and listening skills

What you can hope to achieve

  • Better understanding of grammatical structures.
  • To be more confident conversing in Italian on a range of topics.


Language courses from level 2 up are continuations from the previous level. New students: you are advised to contact Adult Education and discuss with the tutor before enrolling if you are unsure of your level.

  • Pen and notebook for work done in class.
  • A folder for your many handouts – an expandable A4 folder with plastic sleeves is recommended.
  • Small Italian/English dictionary.
  • Italian Grammar book: McGraw Hill ‘Advanced Italian Step-by-Step’ by Paola Nanni-Tate. ISBN: 9780071837187
  • The Multi Media Pack: ‘Read and Think Italian’ ISBN: 9780071763653 – Book and CD set 2011.

Important information

  • Most language classes fill up quickly. However, your class could be cancelled if not enough people enrol. If you are concerned about buying a book that may be of no use to you then please check the viability of your class with adult education before purchasing your text.
