Course description

For those who have completed 2 terms (36 hours) Chinese or its equivalent.
The course will include a review of material covered in Mandarin 1 and 2. You will use Discover China, Students Book 1 as a textbook to extend your skills and further develop the knowledge to communicate in work, travel and social situations relating to Chinese speaking regions. This course will provide a balanced mix of speaking, listening, reading and writing activities.

What your course will cover:

  • Birthday – What is the date? What day is it today? (jintian jiyue jihao? Jintian xingqi ji? Ni de shengri shi jiyue jihao?....)
  • Daily Routine – What are you doing? What time is it? What is your daily routine? ( Ni zai zuo sheme? Xianzai jidian? Ni jidian chi wanfan?...)
  • Directions, locations (qian, hou, zuo, you,…)
  • Clothes – What clothes do people wear? Do the clothes fit? What should I wear? (wo jintian gai chuan shenme ne?....)
  • Shopping – At various shops (xiangjiao zeme mai? Pingguo yijin duoshaoqian?...)
  • Grammar related to topics covered.
  • Chinese culture related to topics covered.

Prerequisites

Language courses from level 2 are continuations from the previous level. New students: you are strongly advised to examine the content of the lower level course and be confident that you are already competent at that level.

What to bring

  • Pen and notebook for work in class.
  • A folder to keep your handouts in.
  • The text book: Discover China, Students Book 1 ISBN 9780230405950.

  • If you are unsure of your level, please phone the hotline on 6165 5600 during business hours.
  • Most language classes fill up quickly. However, your class could be cancelled if not enough people enrol. If you are concerned about buying an item that may be of no use to you then please check the viability of your class with Adult Education before purchasing.

Please note that children must not attend this class unless it is a specified parent/child activity.

Cancellations and Refunds
Please choose your course carefully. A full refund is payable in the event that a class is cancelled. No other refunds are considered except for extenuating circumstances which are supported by a written application.
